Reno, NV – Reaction mixed to Virginia Lake senior housing

A low-income senior housing project to be built on the northeastern side of Reno’s Virginia Lake has some residents worried it will lower the value of houses in the area and aggravate the current problems of high-density building and the crime rate.

A low-income senior housing project to be built on the northeastern side of Reno’s Virginia Lake has some residents worried it will lower the value of houses in the area and aggravate the current problems of high-density building and the crime rate.

“I’m opposed to any more apartments in the neighborhood. We just can’t take it,” she said. “I am not against this project per se or these people (the developers). It’s just a mystery to me why there has been no consideration of adjacent property values, no impact studies for the area.”
