Westchester County NY Executive balks at feds’ ‘unprecedented overreaching’ in housing-deseg case demands

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino today accused the federal government of overstepping its authority in enforcing the housing desegregation deal and said the two sides are at an impasse.

Astorino called out the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for what he said was an “unprecedented overreaching by the federal government.”


During a roughly 45-minute news conference this morning at the county office building, the Republican executive defended Westchester as one of the most diverse places in the country and called on on Congressional leaders to get involved.
