[YET MORE ON TX’S UNACCEPTABLE PROCESS FOR ALLOWING LOCAL POLITICIANS/HOMEOWNERS TO KILL AFFORDABLE HOUSING – See my lengthy article on history of opposition to affordable housing in Fort Bend County TX here]
Opposition has developed against preliminary plans for a 149-unit affordable apartment complex for the elderly, which developers propose to locate on a 9-acre site between Seven Lakes High School and Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in the Katy area.
Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers has told Cinco Ranch Property Owner Association officials that he opposes the site.
“My office has notified the developer that we believe their location is not suitable for low-income housing and has offered to work with the developer to find more suitable locations” Meyers said in his email.
Meyers said he has notified other local elected officials, as well as the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council and Katy Area Economic Development Council, which he said helped oppose similar low-income apartments proposed for the Westheimer Lakes area last year.
