Public outrage against a planned affordable housing apartment complex off FM 1488 may have forced the developer to abandon the project.
Neighborhood leaders near the the project in Magnolia met Thursday night with state Rep. Rob Eissler, R-The Woodlands hoping to get his support against the complex.
Organized by the Westwood Landowners Association, representing the Westwood neighborhood at FM 1488 and FM 2978, residents filled Wildwood United Methodist church to learn more about the Mark-Dana Corporation’s plans to build an affordable apartment complex on a 7-acre plot off FM 1488 at Wedgewood Drive, just east of Tamina Road.
“People want a safe environment to raise their kids and families in and have something of value,” said Linda Daves, a Realtor with Package Realty. “This (project could) take away from what they have here. What (the corporation) wants to start won’t end up that way.”
