Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino brought his fight over implementation of a landmark housing desegregation agreement to the nation’s capital this week.
His objective: Persuade the Hudson Valley’s congressional delegation to support his position.
Astorino is at odds with the Department of Housing and Urban Development over several parts of an August 2009 federal fair housing court agreement signed by his predecessor, Democrat Andrew Spano.
Congress needs to step in to stop “this overreach that is threatening Westchester,’’ Astorino said during a visit Wednesday to the Gannett Washington bureau. “In HUD’s own words, this is their grand experiment.”
